GVS is a grassroots level non-profit, secular organization registered under Society registration IGR Regd No -23458/79 2012-13/13.03.2013, It is registered under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 1976 and bearing No. 105090014 Dtd. 19th Feb.2013, FCRA Regd No-105100013, 12(A) Regd No- 12/2007-08 on dt. 10.7.2007initiated by a group of intellectual activists in the virgin land of southern Odisha. This spurt of activism ultimately culminated into an organised institution named 'Gramya Vikas Sangathan' in 1993 in tribal district of Nabarangpur and today the operational area has increased upto 5 districts of Odisha like Nabarangpur, Koraput, Sambalpur, Bargarh & Kalahandi. GVS strongly beliefs on two foundation strategies like social accountability and social inclusion to empower tribal people, their families, their communities and thereby the larger society to remind the existing government machinery to function effectively and provide for the necessary support to reach the goal and inclusive society.
